CLUN FIRE STATION

Craven Arms Regeneration (The Auction Yard, Shropshire) by Contemporary, Modern and Conservation architects Baart Harries Newall (BHN architects) based in Shrewsbury.
Clun Fire Station
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service ambition was to increase their existing provision at the Fire Station in Clun, within the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The project involved a 50% extension to increase the total floor area to 152m2 and a complete external remodel of the existing Fire Station which included an external covered canopy for future firefighting appliances / trucks.

The fire service brief was to provide a modern and contemporary fire station to accommodate staff with community facilities that included a lecture room / kitchen and use of two toilets off the main entrance.

The building draws upon the vocabulary of local rural designs to provide a building sympathetic to its rural context with a distinct contemporary quality.  The materials pallet is coloured render and black profiled aluminium cladding, which echoes the render and black stained timber cladding traditionally found in Clun
